The Top 9 Biggest LEGO® Sets Ever

On the 13th November 2020 we… sorry… let's try that again… On the XIII November MMXX, we released the LEGO® Colosseum. And (if we may get technical for a second) it turned out to be the largest LEGO set ever made, of all time – EVER – in the history of everything… EVER!

But then in June 2021 we released something even bigger: The LEGO Art World Map!

But exactly how big is this latest LEGO set? And how does it compare to the Colosseum? What are our other massive sets? What is the meaning of life? The answer to virtually all of these questions can be found below.

1. LEGO® Art World Map

With a whopping 11,695 pieces, this is now our biggest set ever invented. A challenging build that will fuel your wanderlust, the LEGO Art World Map is the perfect set for travel lovers – and it will upgrade your home decor.

Once built, you can track your travels, create your own bucket list using small, colored pins – and you'll gain a beautiful piece of wall art.

Put your own stamp on the world and create patterns in the oceans, get creative with the bright colors and choose which continent will be at the center. The intricate design and tiny little pieces make it the ultimate (and lengthy) building challenge.

2. LEGO® Colosseum

A mere two millennia after the original was built, there is finally a Colosseum made of LEGO bricks. This incredible model is packed with fascinating details worthy of the most iconic amphitheater in history.

With 9,036 pieces in this set, making it our second largest ever, our designer Rok Zgalin Kobe explained that "the more the model was being perfected, the more pieces went into capturing its details."

If you're looking for a showstopping display piece for your home, this set could very well be it.

3. UCS LEGO® Star Wars™ Millennium Falcon™

Now, we were going to make a joke about how funny it was that we used to think 7,541 pieces was actually *big*, but Chewbacca just walked into the room and seems to be indicating that we don't write that. Either that or he's hungry – we don't speak Wookiee.

Chewy is one of seven minifigures in this eye-popping set that stands at 83cm long and 60cm wide. And (you won't believe this), it can do the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs!

4. LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Castle

Despite containing 6,020 pieces, this castle still is able to surprise with the sheer amount of detail it fits in. From the guardian trials of the Sorcerer's Stone, to the Chamber of Secrets™, all the way up to the unmissable office of Dolores Umbridge™ (literally unmissable…it's bright pink).Fun fact: The designer curated the building experience to mirror that of Harry Potter™ when he first entered Hogwarts™, starting with the boats and the Great Hall before exploring the rest of the castle. 5. LEGO® Creator Expert Taj Mahal

A landmark in the real world, a landmark in the LEGO world. This set was such a fan favorite that we re-released it in 2017 – a full 9 years after its initial release!

It contains 5,923 pieces and stands at over 43cm tall thanks to the stunningly rendered central dome. Who said mausoleums had to be depressing…?

6. LEGO® Harry Potter™ Diagon Alley™

Stock up on potions, brooms, and (most importantly) everything in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes… The 5,544 pieces of this set produce a full metre-wide long version of the most famous magical shopping street this side of Hogsmeade™.

Combined with the 14 minifigures that this set comes with, there's a real danger you might get lost in the crowd. If we get separated, meet us by Hagrid™.

7. Ultimate Collector's LEGO® Star Wars™ Millennium Falcon™

The second-largest hunk of junk in our LEGO galaxy. This 2007 edition of the Millennium Falcon™ was made of 5,197 pieces, making it the first LEGO set to surpass the hallowed 5,000-piece mark. Perhaps in a few years' time, it might be a Millennium Falcon set that breaks the 10,000-brick mark. Perhaps it won't. Perhaps this writer has no clue.

We'll never know.

8. LEGO® NINJAGO® City

While this multi-level vertical city set from THE LEGO NINJAGO® MOVIE™ might not top the list of most bricks, it's got a strong case for being the most fun. Hidden compartments, moving mechanisms, 19 minifigures… Although its 4,867 pieces offered a pleasantly difficult building challenge, far more challenging was having to lie to your friends to say you bought this set for your kids.

9. UCS LEGO® Star Wars™Imperial Star Destroyer™

DUMDUMDUM DUM DA-DUM DUM DA-DUM… We know you had the Imperial March stuck in your head when you saw this set. And if you didn't, well tough luck, 'coz now you do. How's THAT for Jedi™ mind tricks.

This imperious ship has had a big presence throughout the Star Wars™ saga… and you can be sure that at 1.1m long, this 4,784-piece LEGO version will have a similar presence in whichever room you display it in!
